Round two of the 2009 Jacksonville Sprint Classic was pretty much a repeat of Round one for the B & J Racing Kennel. Bringing six greyhounds in the six qualifying heats, B & J won 4 of those efforts and finished 4th in the other two. The remaining races were won by the O'Donnell Kennel and the Stacey Blanch Kennel.
Leading the way for B & J was none other than the best greyhound at the racetrack right now, Count Ivan (Kiowa Sweet Trey - M's Countess Amy). Ivan missed his break in the 11th race and really had to work hard to get clear early on and find a lane to rush up in. By the turn he was coming on but the first round winner, Kiowa Wild Boy was already in the lead. Down the backside things would change though as Wild Boy drifted midtrack and left a wide open rail for Ivan to run on. He powered by the leader and took command of this race in the far turn. Coming home he padded his numbers as he crossed the finished line 3 lengths clear of the field in the best time on the card 30.33 seconds. With this win Ivan remains undefeated in the stakes and pushed his current win streak to 11 races in a row.

Not to be outdone, Take It Over (Get Over - Cm Lil Bit) did his part to rack up the points for himself and the B & J Kennel in the 10th race. His race would not be as easy as Ivan's though, but in this effort he showed true grit and determination to take home the win. Getting to the first turn at the same time at All-American Kiowa Wish Frank was a daunting task. Both greyhounds wanted the front, but Over had the inside and bumped Frank back out of contention and never looked back. He should of though as Ru Tuff Enuf took advantage of the slight collision and snuggled up behind in second place. This tough duo chased the leader throughout but no avail. At the wire Over held on strong and coasted to the finish line for his 7th straight win as he too remained undefeated in the stakes.

The only other undefeated greyhound left is Kiowa More Am (Trojan Cruze - Kiowa Morley Cee). In the 5th race he came out running once again and took early command of his race. In a direct replay of the first round, Am was pressed throughout but was not going to surrender to the pressure. He held gamely from box to wire and crossed the finish line a couple of lengths clear of the competition. Where's Playpen was next best as Dirty Picture closed late to complete the trifecta. Deco Daron Hart rallied after a sluggish break to complete the superfecta.

The other pair of wins for the B & J Kennel came in the 4th and 7th races on the card and each ran pretty much the same race. Stalking early and taking control in the stretch to prove best at the finish line. Neither greyhound was the favorite to win, but both showed that they can get the job done.
Greta's Zodiac finally got off the snide and took home a victory in the 4th race. Gs Tank was the early leader and she was just off in second until the stretch. In the deep stretch she battle by for the lead and clung to it at the wire as Where's King Fly came screaming up late to threaten for the victory. Take settled for third as Sassy Gloria never fired and ran an even effort to complete the superfecta.

Cjc's Hercules ran a huge race and did everything he had to do to win the in 7th. He broke close, but with Wired To Wind on the early lead, runner up looked like his calling. Not so fast my friend said Hercules as he took the weight of the world on his shoulders in the far turn and drove by into the lead. The battle was not over yet though, he still had to get home to win the race. That was going to be the tricky part as Winds kennelmate Pru Whistler was loose and closing very, very fast. As they strided toward the finish line, Hercules lead was shrinking and Whistler was gaining. Closer and closer they came but in the end and after the photo, Hercules held on for the slim win and Whistler had to settle for third. Lk Sweetums finished 3rd and Wind settled for 4th. Race favorite Kiowa Spock missed his break and ran into trouble and finished 5th.

Capping off the qualifying rounds in race 12, Tom S Postulator looked like P's Rambling coming home for the upset victory. Up until the wire this was a very heated event. All the greyhounds were jammed up on the front end and as they tired each other out jockeying for position, Postulator took advantage in the stretch. He didn't just run by tiring greyhounds though, there were some pretty big names he left in his wake at the finish line. Where's Lady Cry set the pace on the lead and carried the field all the way to the stretch before surrendering late for third. La's Anthony was in the mix too. He was actually in the lead right before the finish line and was denied in the final few strides. First round winner Cjc's Buckshot also was close early and was outgunned in the stretch to cap off the superfecta. At 18-1 no one gave him a chance, but Tom knew better and took home the upset win, congrats.
