3/27/2009 - Take It Over Remains Undefeated
And then there was one! Take It Over as the only greyhound to survive the third round unscathed as he broke close and make the most of the extra room to the turn from the 8 box. He took quick command of the 9th race at the first turn and never looked back. He drove away down the backside and increased his lead to 6 lengths by the far turn. Coming home he coasted to the wire for the easy victory. Where's Playpen chased the leader early on but was no match for the big closer Blaze N Ray down the backside. Ray took over second and was closed the gap a bit to the leader in the stretch. Playpen survived for third as Cjc's Buckshot pulled the trigger in the deep stretch as came from 6th at the far turn to lose the photo for show at the wire. Completing the field, Kiowa Wild Boy in 5th, Gs Tank in 6th, Sassy Gloria in 7th, and Doc's Wardancer in 8th.

B & J did win another round in the stakes once again but it probably was the one that no one would have expected. Cjc's Hercules broke slowly but put on a huge rush from the outside in the 7th race to take control at the 1st turn. In close proximity was his Kennelmate Deco Daron Hart and that is the way it was going to be for the duration of this event. Hercules held strong on the lead and held Daron at bay all the way to the wire. Both greyhounds race good races and tonight Daron was just 2nd best. After a strange race in his last outing, Wired to Wind righted the ship in this effort. He came out slowly, but he didn't just give up. He continued to gain throughout in this effort and closed strongly up the stretch and stole away the final spot in the trifecta at the wire. Jm's Rush Hour chased the pace for the majority of this race and was outfinished in the stretch and had to settle for 4th at the finish line. Completing the field was Spicket in 5th, Kiowa Swizzle in 6th, Zes Coloradogold in 7th and Mrl Runner in 8th.

The biggest upset of the evening came in the 10th race where La's Anthony got back to winning in stakes competition. Really not that much of a stretch except he was drawn in with Count Ivan who had won 11 races in a row and was undefeated in the stakes. Ivan broke poorly in this effort and had no room to turn the turn. He was in a world of hurt and Anthony took advantage. Anthony and Kiowa More Am both came out running and this pair dueled all the way to the turn. More Am was on top as they headed down the backside, but Anthony was not done just yet. He continued to gain and by the far turn had overtaken the leader. Now with a slim lead heading home the race was his too loose, but they were not going to make it easy for him. More Am was not going away and kennelmate Pru Whistler had started to roll and was gaining fast on the leaders. Closer and closer they crept and closer and closer the competition was bunching up. Anthony survived at the wire as More Am won the photo for place a mere 1 and a half lengths behind the winner. Pru Whistler gave her all but had to settle for 3rd at the wire. Bluemoon Rocky finished a distant 4th. Completing this field was Where's Lady Cry in 5th, Lk Sweetums in 6th, Count Ivan in 7th and Kiowa Stan Carl in 8th.

Now let's look at the best effort on the evening and that came in the 11th race and belonged to Ru Tuff Enuf. Somehow he must have sensed that this was a tough field of greyhounds and that he was going to have to do something extra special if he wanted to win, frankly that is just what he did. Tuff Enuf beat the box! He came out in a tremendous hurry and for a greyhound with late speed, this really helps your chances. Taking over in the first few strides he was chased and pressured throughout by All-American Kiowa Wish Frank and even though Frank is not short either, he could make up no ground at all on the leader. Tuff Enuf crossed the wire 2 lengths clear of Frank and posted up the quickest time of the night in 30.37 seconds. Third went to Kiowa Spock, who made up ground throughout. Dirty Picture never varied anytime throughout this race and held the final spot in the superfecta for the majority of this effort. Completing the field was Head Coach in 5th, Tom S Postulator in 6th, Where's King Fly in 7th and Greta's Zodiac in 8th.
