Race Results for Round 3 of the 2009  Sunshine State Silver Cup at the Orange Park Kennel Club
8/28/2009 - Still 2 Untouched for B and J
The B & J Kennel continued its hot run thru the stakes as they got 2 of their 3 undefeated greyhounds thru to the semi-finals. Chalk flew in the other effort too as the pre-race favorite make it look to easy drill sergeant in his quart-final effort. The only dissenting race was the 7th as it was bombs away as a former stakes contender decided to step up and run.

As Gomer Pile would say, Surprise, Surprise, Surprise, well not really, but Count Ivan is started to look like his old self once again. In the 11th race on the card, which by the way was the toughest on the evening, Ivan burst from the 8 box and took total command from the get go. Not to say that he was not pressed at all in this effort, but he just kept on keeping on the lead all the way to the wire to remain undefeated in 3 round of qualifying. La’s Anthony was next best throughout and the puppy Kiowa Smedley outclosed the rest last for third.

The other greyhound to make it thru unscathed was also from the B & J barn. Cjc’s Buckshot is on a mission and no matter what has happened to him so far in the stakes, he has overcome it and took home a victory. Continuing to go with his game plan in the quarter-finals, Buckshot, chased early and drove hard in the backside to take the lead by the far turn. He didn’t stop there though, he continued on to the wire for the easy win. Early threat and partial leader, Rs Libby Lu was second and Pru Whistler overtook the early leader, Bl Punch N Judy, for third.

Ru Tuff Enuf decided again tonight that he wanted to run and looked like the best greyhound in the stakes once again. Breaking straight to the early lead, Tuff Enuf was in command early and as they say, their not going to get to him tonight. He increased his lead over the field throughout and won by a commanding 6 lengths in the fastest time on the card 30.36 second. Next best was the early speeder, Kiowa More Am and Take It Over ran a solid third just ahead of the closing Deerfield Moss.

In the 7th race it was bombs away as the early speeder, Topaz Hanna, drove to the early lead and proved tenacious in the stretch for the slim victory. Hanna is no stranger to stakes competition and winning races in grade A, but this was her first win in a long time. Kiowa Deli Davis made it interesting late though as he missed by just a neck at the wire. Early threats, Gabby’s Fiona and Where’s Playpen rounded out the superfecta.
